Greenbelt Staff:
Claude Bernard, OTR/L, CHT, CLT: Claude Bernard graduated from Howard University with a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2013. Prior to earning his masters, he received an Athletic Training degree at Methodist University in 2011. He has gained valuable clinical experience in a variety of settings which include inpatient rehab, acute care, SNF, mental health, and sports injuries. Upon completion of OT school, he worked alongside his mentor in a hand therapy clinic where he developed skills in hand therapy, lymphedema therapy, and pediatric therapy. Since then, he has earned his certificate in hand therapy (CHT) and certificate in lymphedema (CLT).  By working at the hand therapy clinic, Bernard developed the skills to combine his comprehensive knowledge of the upper extremity with functional treatments catered to each individual patient's need. In his free time, Claude enjoys playing basketball, fitness, traveling, and spending time with family.

Evangelina Margarita Melendez, PTA:  Evangelina Margarita Melendez is based at our Greenbelt office since 2009. She Graduated from University of Maryland College Park with a BS in Kinesiology 2009 and graduated from Montgomery College with Associate Degree in Physical Therapy in 2014.

Jesse Holliday, PTA:  Jesse graduated in 2011 with a BS in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Health and Fitness from the University of South Carolina and remained on the Dean's List all four years.
He worked as a personal trainer for 4 years before receiving his Associates degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from Montgomery College. In his free time he likes indoor rock climbing, going to the gym and he is studying Spanish to better serve all patients at Greenbelt Accessible Physical Therapy.

Kaitlyn Preston, PTA:  Kaitlyn graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with her A.A.S. degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She played softball and basketball for many years, and encountered many orthopedic injuries as an athlete. Her own experiences as a patient in physical therapy led her to become a devoted therapist.

Kiranpreet Kaur, PT: Kiran graduated in 2005 with Bachelors in physiotherapy degree. She is very skilled and dedicated therapist. She is currently treating patients at our Greenbelt clinic. Kiran is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, and English. In her free time she loves to spend her time with her husband and her young daughter.

Michael Boston, PT, DPT: Michael has been the Clinical Director of Physical Therapy at our Greenbelt office since 2004. He graduated from Howard University where he completed both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. He was on the Dean's List at Howard throughout his entire academic career. He has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1995.

Oluwapelumi Awolesi, PT: Pelumi graduated from the University of Lagos College of Medicine.  Since graduating she has had the opportunity of working in different settings which has given her a vast knowledge of physical therapy from the acute post- surgical level to sports rehab. She strongly believes in establishing a connection with her patient to understand their goals is the key to motivating them to get better. Pelumi plans on getting her orthopedic specialization. Outside of work, Pelumi loves to read, watch movies, travel and spend time with her love ones.

Greenbelt (Greenway Ctr. Drive) Staff:

Esther Rothman, OTR/L, CHT: Esther received her undergraduate degree in education and a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University.  In her quest to expand her knowledge base and skills, she achieved a certificate in upper quadrant rehabilitation from Drexel University and then an advanced certification as a hand therapist. Through her extensive education and clinical work, Esther has become skilled in the assessment and management of all patients with hand problems. She has also participated in several research projects that were published in hand therapy journals. She has mentored hand therapy students who have gone on to achieve certification as hand therapists. She maintains the highest standards of care for all of her patients providing individualized, hands on treatment programs that applies evidence-based medicine. She is passionate about her field of work and enjoys interacting with the patients one on one to help each achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. She tries to make all her patients feel welcome, comfortable, confident and satisfied with the service given. Esther continues to strive for excellence in her practice, by refining her skills through continuing education and research.

Sam Dovelle, OTR/L, CHT: Sam completed his degree in Occupational Therapy in 1976 at Eastern Michigan University. Soon after receiving his certification in the American Occupational Therapy Association, he began his career in the United States Army Medical Specialist Corp. in orthopedic rehabilitation with a focus in hand therapy. His interest in hand therapy and the academic influences of two major army medical centers provided the opportunity to research and publish journal articles in tendon rehabilitation. He has also published many case studies in hand therapy and orthotic design that were presented internationally and continue to be referenced in medical journals. Sam has lectured nationally on the topic, “Rehabilitation Following Micro-Neurovascular Surgery of the Hand” for the American Occupational Therapy Association. Throughout his career he has been dedicated to promoting hand therapy.  He continues to sponsor occupational and physical therapists in their pursuit of hand therapy certification and remains committed to providing the hand therapy that he would expect to receive himself.

Silver Spring Staff:

Nazira Afrin MS, OTR/L: Nazira Afrin completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Anthropology from City University of NY Queens College. She then earned her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Bay Path University in Massachusetts. She has developed clinical experience in pediatrics, EI, geriatrics, homecare, and orthopedic diagnosis.  She has specialized training in dementia care, falls prevention, PAMs, and applied behavior analysis.  Nazira’s therapeutic philosophy entails customized, quality patient care and implementing evidence-based treatment to ensure best practice. She continues sharpening her skills through courses.  In her spare time, she enjoys running, weight-lifting, practicing yoga, traveling, and cooking.

Sally Miller, PTA: Sally graduated from Salisbury University in 2008 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and most recently earned her Physical Therapy Assistant A.A.S. degree from Northern Virginia Community College. Sally’s interest in orthopedic and sport-specific rehabilitation has been a driving force throughout her physical therapy education and experience. Sally's approach to treatment focuses on hands-on techniques specifically tailored to each patient's condition and unique goals. An avid music lover and sports enthusiast, Sally enjoys going to concerts, rooting for the Orioles, running half-marathons, and chasing around her adorable nieces and nephews.

Vaishnavi Nadkarni, PT: Vaishnavi completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physical therapy and thereafter, pursued her Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences from Concordia University Wisconsin. She worked at a multispecialty hospital for 2 years where she got a chance to independently treat inpatient and orthopedic outpatients. She is currently taking 5 courses from the physical therapy doctoral program at A.T.S.U. and Rehab, Montana University to further enhance her knowledge and skills in the orthopedic domain. She likes to provide her patients a detailed explanation of their condition and design therapy programs that are suitable and realistic, keeping focus on their individual goals. She enjoys being able to help others and learn something from each individual. She also enjoys painting, photography, gardening, listening music and spending quality time with family and friends other than work.

Ayodele Ojo, PT: Ayo graduated in 2013 with a degree in Physical Therapy and is presently working on her Doctorate. She enjoys taking classes in physical therapy to help her in continuing to provide the best and current evidence-based treatment for her patients that will decrease healing time. Apart from being skilled in physical therapy, she is also empathetic which helps her cater her treatments according to what will benefit the patient the most. In her free time, she loves to cook, take pictures and spend time with her family.
